Julia Aug’s documentary show “#Maolenvenelane” premiered at the Vaba Lava Narva theater center. The show offers an insight into the fears and beliefs of Russians living in Estonia.
The show is based on anonymous interviews, because in ordinary life Estonian Russians no longer dare to be honest: so many social, political and human tensions are concentrated around them.
“There is a gulf between Estonians and the Russian-speaking community. I understood this when I lived here for a year and a half. But to move towards rapprochement it is necessary to know each other better,” Ago said.

“As an adult, I didn’t interact much with Russians anymore. Now, reading these interviews, it seems like you’re interacting with some kind of ethnic Russian person again for a while, because he opens his soul. They’re the same.” Estonians are extremely different people. Probably for many of them the reason is that for some reason they still don’t feel at home in this country,” said actor Raimo Pass.

The show “#Maolenvenelane” will be performed next January in Tallinn, Rakvere and Tartu.
