Director Rasmus Merivoo about the actors of the sequel to “Alien”: they are ripe like pears on a tree in autumn

“I have to say that we haven’t met these guys in the meantime,” Merivoo pointed out to the actors who will star in the “Alien” sequel, including Ott Sepale and Märt Avandi. He added that seeing the actors on set again was a great event. “They are as ripe as pears on a tree in autumn,” he characterized them.

The director said that much of his creation was not included in the sequel’s script during filming. “There can’t be any big improvisations, like in the case of the first one, because we have a very specific plan that needs to be carried out,” he reasoned. “But at least one word, which I won’t say here, was ironically introduced by Märt Avanti: I really liked it.”

“You have to be ready early for the screening of the films, set the dates, because they can’t start eating each other too much,” Merivoo commented on why April 1 was chosen as the premiere date. “1. after all, April is also a good day for pranks.”

However, the director remained skeptical about the third part of “Alien”. “If it comes, it will be in 20 years.”

In 2006, Rasmus Merivoo earned a degree in directing from Tallinn University with his short film “Alien – Valdis’ Escape in 11 Parts”. With the help of the Internet, it quickly became a cult film, viewed over a million times. After several television projects, Rasmus finally returned to writing and directing feature films in 2020 with the family horror comedy “Kratt.” “Alien 2” is Rasmus Merivoo’s third feature film.

Märt Avandi, Ott Sepp, Vallo Kirs, Liisa Pulk, Kaia Skoblov, Indrek Ojari, Ago Anderson, Indrek Taalma, Tõnn Lamp, Marek Tammets, Merle Jääger and many others take part in the film as main actors.
