Donald Trump maintains lead in New Hampshire four days before primaries | foreign country

The next state to vote in the American primaries will be the state of New Hampshire, where both the Republican and Democratic primaries will be held on January 23. According to the latest polls, former US President Donald Trump maintains his lead among voters intending to participate in the Republican primaries.

According to a poll commissioned by the Boston Globe, the most important newspaper in the state of New Hampshire, and conducted by Suffolk University, 51.8 percent of voters intending to participate in the state’s Republican primaries support Donald Trump.

Trump’s main rival, former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, enjoys the support of 35.4% of voters.

In third place is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has the support of 6.4% of Republican voters in the New Hampshire primary.

The remaining voters have no preference or support another candidate.

Nikki Haley’s relatively high support is explained by the fact that in New Hampshire not only Republicans, but also nonpartisan voters can vote. Instead, only Republicans were allowed to vote in Iowa’s primary earlier this week.

In total, the projected electorate for New Hampshire’s Republican primary is 55.4% Republican and 44.2% unaffiliated. If more independent voters than expected participate in the primary, Haley’s performance could improve compared to the poll.

At the same time, most Haley voters support the former South Carolina governor largely because he is Trump’s biggest opponent. Only 42.4% of Haley voters said their vote would primarily be a vote for Haley, while 54.8% of Haley supporters said they would vote for her because she opposes Trump.

On the other hand, among Trump voters, 92.7% of Trump voters vote specifically for the purpose of expressing support for the former president, and only 4.6% of Trump voters support him primarily because they don’t want Haley win.

Also speaking in Trump’s favor is the fact that 37.2% of those interviewed consider themselves ideologically conservative and another 16.6% very conservative. Only 36.4 of the candidates in the Republican primaries define themselves as moderate.

The New Hampshire primary will take place on January 23, and polling stations in most cities across the state will close at 7pm local time, or 2am on January 24, Estonian time. All polling stations will close at 20:00 local time, i.e. 3:00 in the morning on January 24, Estonian time. The results are expected to be known within a few hours, i.e. by the morning of January 24, Estonian time.
