Empty counters. Homemade vegan mayonnaise has not been available in stores for some time

Rimi purchasing manager Talis Raak said the supplier has long had delivery difficulties for several products due to technical problems, not just the vegan mayonnaise in question.

Kristiina Tamberg, communications manager at Prisma, said Tarplani Kaubaundus informed them of delivery difficulties due to a decrease in production capacity on the packaging line. As a result, deliveries of some products, including vegan mayonnaise, are expected to be delayed until the end of January, Tamberg added. On the shelves of Prisma, however, you can find a larger version of Tarplan’s vegan mayonnaise (in a 450 gram package).

Maxima communications manager Mariann Järvela noted that there are major production problems with Tarplani Kaubandus mayonnaise and sauces, which will not be resolved until spring. She added that the difficulty in supplying vegan mayonnaise will last until the end of January.

The Business Journal reached out to Tarplan for comment but had not received a response by Friday evening.

Tarplani sauces and mayonnaise are produced by Tarplani Kaubanduse OÜ, which has been in business for almost 30 years. It is a wholesale company that produces, markets and sells various mayonnaises, sauces and juices. The company is the leading producer and seller of mayonnaise in Estonia.

Tarplani Kaubandus’ turnover in 2022 was almost 5.4 million euros. The profit was over 900,000 euros.
