An exoplanet has been identified by NASA that is 8.6 times the size of Earth and contains a gas that is primarily produced by living organisms.
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, launched on 25 2021 from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, made a groundbreaking discovery last year.
The Exoplanet
An exoplanet named K2-18 b, also known as EPIC 201912552 b, orbits the red dwarf K2-18 within NASA’s identified ‘habitable zone’.
Located 124 light years away from Earth, it has a radius 2.6 times that of Earth and a mass 8.6 times greater than Earth.
Initially discovered by NASA’s Kepler space telescope in 2009, the Webb Telescope’s mission provided a closer examination of the planet’s atmosphere.
Exploring Exoplanet K2-18 b
Recent research has shed light on the intriguing exoplanet known as K2-18b. NASA’s findings from last year revealed the presence of carbon-bearing molecules, including methane and carbon dioxide, on this distant world.
Building upon previous discoveries, scientists have speculated that K2-18b could be classified as a ‘Hycean exoplanet,’ characterized by a hydrogen-rich atmosphere and a surface covered with water oceans.
Furthermore, NASA’s initial observations with the Webb telescope hinted at the potential detection of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in the planet’s atmosphere, adding another layer of complexity to its composition.

If dating is a numbers game, no one is playing it better than Grace Campbell. Earlier this year the 29-year-old comedian, actress and writer went on 28 dates in two months, which equates to roughly one every two days.
The premise was simple: set dates, record and analyze each one with the help of two friends, then turn everything into a podcast called ’28 Dates Letter’. Achieve all this while maintaining common sense at all times.
‘It was intense,’ says Grace Campbell, smiling and cuddling her dog Eddie between sips of water in a north London pub. I had four dates in one day. I was very drunk by the time they finished. After that I started doing it properly. But then it got boring.’
The concept of ’28 Dates’ was conceived by journalist Willard Foxton, who took on the same challenge himself in 2013, blogged about these dates and finally found a partner. Grace Campbell, daughter of Alastair Campbell (yes, the same one) – contacted by American podcast production company Novel.
He understood this idea; Grace Campbell regularly used her love life as material in her stand-up. The result is a hilarious, sometimes eye-wateringly raw, 28-part series that lifts the lid on the byzantine world of modern dating.
Grace sighed: ‘I haven’t found my husband but I’ve started seeing someone I met briefly on a date.’
As luck would have it, that was the last date. You’ll have to wait until the series finale in February to find out what happened. Before Mr. Almighty Right (he’s no longer dating) comes an eclectic cast of characters that could just as clearly be from the hit drama ‘Sex and the City’.
There are also ‘The Sugar Daddies’ who have dated more than a thousand women in three years. Then there’s ‘The Guy With The Foot Fetish’, who insists that most women don’t know how much they love sucking their toes. And there’s also ‘The Bouldering Wagon Cyclist’ which is pretty self-explanatory.
Grace Campbell explained, ‘The point was different from my type. ‘I have two: hypermasculine men who wear Stone Island and bisexual guys who paint their nails. This has been in my twenties.
