SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launch Today
Welcome to the live coverage of the SpaceX Starlink 6-56 mission from pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The launch, originally scheduled for 11 a.m. EDT, has been delayed by 2 hours.
The Falcon 9 rocket will deploy a batch of Starlink internet satellites housed inside the fairing atop the 230-foot rocket. Backup launch opportunities are available until 2:42 p.m. in case of further delays.
The Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron predicts a 90% chance of favorable weather, with a slight concern for cumulus clouds and a moderate risk of solar activity.
No sonic booms are expected in Central Florida during this mission. The rocket’s first-stage booster will attempt to land on a SpaceX drone ship at sea approximately 8 minutes after liftoff.
SpaceX’s live webcast on X (formerly Twitter) will be available about five minutes before liftoff.
Launch Preparation in Brevard County
Despite the delay, Brevard County Emergency Management has activated its launch operations support team in preparation for SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch.

Today’s SpaceX Starlink mission at KSC’s pad 39A will take place near Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This is where a United Launch Alliance Atlas V will launch NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore to the International Space Station aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft.
