“The ERM makes popular culture available to the public in many ways, and in collaboration with dedicated partners, we can reach more people,” said Kristjan Raba, coordinator of special projects for exhibitions, who accepted the award on behalf of the ‘ERM. “I believe that in this way, as a museum, we make a further contribution to the preservation of folk music and dance traditions and traditions.”
The ERM is linked by a long collaboration with the popular dance and music society, the common goal is to introduce and spread the development of popular dance and music even in the period between the big holidays. The eighth concert of the “ERM Dances” series recently took place.
The dance series is the continuation of the 2018 «ERM is ringing» concert series, organized to celebrate the 150-year tradition of song festivals, during which more than 50 choirs performed songs on the ERM bridge area.
The dance concerts “ERM Dances” were conducted by the folk dance ensemble of Tarbatu Rural University, on which I invite more than 20 dance groups visited the ERM during the year. These concerts are attended by more and more spectators in folk costumes, who come to learn about traditional dances and try them out for themselves.

Since 2014, the fire journey of the song and dance party has started from the ERM manor park in Raadi, where the members of the song and dance party light the fire together. Furthermore, the museum has already on several occasions offered ambulances in folk costume to partygoers during the singing and dancing celebrations. The ERM Popular Culture Education and Information Center is constantly seeking advice and support in matters relating to popular culture, including folk customs.
Ten years ago, ERM was awarded Supporter of the Year by the Folk Dance and Folk Music Society.
This year, 57 nominees were nominated for the annual awards in nine categories. All winners received a lokulaua as a gift from the company.
