Estonian archers won four medals at the Baltic Open Archery

Over the weekend, the Baltic Open Archery Championships took place in Ventspils, Latvia, where 11 Estonians competed.

Triinu Lilienthal, one of Estonia’s top female sports archers, returned from Latvia with two gold medals, winning both individually and as a women’s team with Nora Haas and Ketter Sild.

The crossbowmen also brought medals: Evert Ressar won an individual silver medal and Estonia managed to bring Estonia a bronze medal as a team. The Estonian team competed in the composition of Evert Ressar, Aivar Pruuli and Indrek Võhumõõk.

“Going into the competition, we didn’t have high expectations because the training results didn’t allow it, rather we bet that we would be in the top three with the team,” Ressar said. “The duels were balanced, but we managed to bring home third place. All the teammates did their job and the bronze was a fact.”

“I was more worried about the individual duels, because the form was not good. The victories were difficult at the beginning. I already felt quite good in the final and my confidence grew with each duel,” he added. “Finally, I am quite satisfied with second place and quite satisfied with the final result. The opponent only made a mistake once, as well as the result 149:147.”
