Estonian orienteers placed in the second ten | Winter sports

The World Student Ski Orientation Championships in Lenzerheide continued on Monday with a joint start and a short course.

The length of the men’s track as the crow flies was 8.7 km and the women’s track was 7.6 km. The Estonian national team’s best finish was once again achieved by Olle Ilmar Jaama, who finished in 14th place, losing to the winner by five minutes and 24 seconds. Timo Kudre finished in 17th place (+6.26), canceling Chris Marcus Krav’s result.

Thanks to an excellent final kilometer, Swiss Nicola Müller (37.16) became the student world champion, Swede Jonatan Ståhl (+0.13) earned silver and Swiss Severin Müller (+1.27) took bronze.

In the women’s competition, Liis-Marii Kaso was the best Estonian with 16th place (+6.02), Birgit Rõõm finished in 21st place (+9.14). The Swede Elin Schagerström (38.39) became world champion for the third consecutive race, the silver went to the Swiss Eliane Deininger (+2.17) and the bronze to the Finnish Maria Hoskari (+2.33).

The last event on the World Cup program is the sprint relay between mixed teams of one woman and one man.
