EuroLeague: Šarunas Jasikevicius era in Istanbul began with the sign of victory

After the first half ended with a lead of 46:45, the home team made the difference in the third quarter, which they won 22:12. In the last ten minutes the Istanbul club did not give up the lead. The smallest difference was seven points (77:70), when the final siren sounded, 12 points separated the two teams.

Nigel Hayes-Davis scored 23 points as Fenerbahce’s top scorer, Socttie Wilbekin added 13 points. Monaco star Mike James emerged as the top scorer with 24 points.

“Remarkable victory against a very good team,” said Jasikevicius after his victorious debut. “I hired a very prepared and experienced team. What I did today: I tried to help the players put into practice what Dimitrios Itoudis (former coach of Fenerbahce – KR) taught on the pitch.”

Fenerbahce achieved their seventh victory after seven defeats. Monaco has eight wins and six defeats.

In the second match of the evening, Valencia (8-6) defeated Olympiacos Piraeus (7-7) 63:56 away from home. The winning point of the 14th round was Olimpia Milano (5-9), who surprised FC Barcelona (10-4) away with a four-point victory, 90:86.
