EXCEPTIONAL! Sildaru, who achieved an excellent result in the second descent, definitively reached the final of the MK stage

The 17-year-old Estonian’s opening run in today’s semi-final was unsuccessful – he finished 20th in the 23-athlete competition with 30.91 points – but he put in a great performance in the second attempt, picking up 73.98 points. In the second descent only US skater Alexander Hall achieved a better result than Sildaru, who scored 78.41 points there.

In the general classification, fourth, the Estonian was overtaken by the other American, Mac Forehand, and by the Norwegian Birk Ruud, who with the first descent scored 77.05 and 75.15 points respectively.

Sildaru has already far surpassed his personal best MK result. Previously he had participated in two stages: last year in Stubai, Austria, where he finished 37th, and last year in Laax, where he finished 50th.

The final will take place on Sunday and will start at 2.15pm Estonian time.
