Gaim missed out on one of the top ten points in the IBU Cup stage, Lv 33. | Biathlon

Joint starting races at the IBU Biathlon Cup stage took place on Saturday in Sjusjön, Norway. Of the three Estonians at the start, the best was Lisbeth Liiv, 33rd.

In the women’s mass start 60, Liiv made three errors (1+0+1+1) and lost to the winner, 18-year-old German Julia Tannheimer (1+1+0+1) 4.54.6. Grete Gaim also started the race, but she made nine mistakes after the first two laps and fell one lap behind.

In the men’s mass, the Norwegians showed their power, taking the five-man victory in front of the home crowd. Martin Nevland, who made only one error in the opening round, was followed by Mats Överby (+13.6) who shot cleanly and Johan-Olav Botn (+14.0), who conceded six penalties, Martin Uldal and Vetle Paulsen lost in more than a minute.

Mehis Udam was the only Estonian on the course, who made eight errors (1+2+2+3) and lost to the winners in 6.23.8 and ranked 50th out of 55 finishers.
