The reference to last year’s sauna year was not entirely inappropriate, because recognition was given for last year’s actions. Sauna-Miku and Kratt, played by Meelis Hainsoo and Aveli Asber respectively, took care of creating the appropriate atmosphere. Kratt also handed out prizes.
The title of Pearl of Culture 2023 was received by Janno Rüütle, who has been on stage for 25 years, for his consistent and effective work as a recreational theater artist in Põlva County and Lutsu Village. Many different productions were staged at the Lutsu Theater under his leadership over the course of ten years: “Rummu Jüri, or tamasseri rauad”, “President’s Lodge”, “Perfect Wedding”, “Come in!”, “Totally Secret” , ” Kalevipoeg or Chronicles of the Life of the King”, «The Knockers», «Here we are, truth and right», «Viimsepäävä lüge», «Liõtsajumal», «The fairy tale of Une Mati» and more recently «The market».
