Hospital with capacity for 200 beds

“In due course they will be installed here at the hospital”, said Sílvia Lutucuta.

The General Hospital of Cuanza Sul, with capacity for 200 beds, could start operating in just over six months, as soon as the constraints with the water supply are overcome, assured Sílvia Lutucuta
The guarantee was given this Friday, March 1st, by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, who carried out an inspection visit to the works of the future health unit in the province.
According to the minister, the main constraint at this time is related to the supply of water in the health unit.
The unit, which has an inpatient capacity for 200 beds, will include, in addition to hemodialysis services, other highly complex medical-surgical services.
In fact, he assured that this is a matter that is being addressed at the highest level, with a multisectoral approach, with the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Provincial Government.
Speaking to the press at the end of the visit, which lasted just over 1 hour, the government official assured that the work is practically finished, and should be operational in just over six months.
The General Hospital of Cuanza Sul, according to Sílvia Lutucuta, has a hemodialysis unit that should operate independently, and the possibility of this area becoming operational even before the inauguration of the health unit is being studied.
“The local government is very committed to providing a faster response, in a sustainable way”, he said, adding that the source from which the connection will be made is just over 12 kilometers away.

He highlighted, however, that this is work that, in principle, should be carried out in six months.
In fact, he explained that almost all of the equipment is already on site, with the exception of those that require greater care in handling.
At the moment, he said, equipment is being installed.
