GRAPHICS | Market research: the Socialists have risen to second place in the ranking of political parties

Isamaad is supported by 25% of Estonian citizens aged 18 and over who have an electoral preference, in December support was 26%. Isamaa rose to first place in the political party rankings in November last year.

After Isamaa, the Social Democratic Party became the second most popular party in January (13% in December, 18% in January). The Reform Party’s support is equal to that of EKRE in January: both parties’ support is 16% and there is no significant change compared to December.

The support of the other parliamentary parties also remains at the same level as in December: the Center Party is supported by 12% and Estonia 200 by 5% of Estonian citizens with electoral preference. In the long run (in the period following the Riigikogu elections), the support of the Reform Party and Estonia 200 has seen a downward trend.

Among non-parliamentary political parties, the Right Party’s support is the highest (3%). The KOOS party is supported by 2%, the Estonian Greens by 1% and the other political parties by 1% of Estonian citizens who have an electoral preference. 1% would vote for a single candidate.

In summary, in January the support of coalition parties as a whole is 39%, of opposition parties 53% and of non-parliamentary parties 7%. Compared to December these indicators have not changed significantly.

The January survey took place from 18 to 25 January 2024. 872 Estonian citizens aged 18 and over were interviewed across Estonia. 50% of the questionnaires were collected by telephone and 50% online. When calculating indicators of support for political parties, respondents with an electoral preference are taken as a basis.
