In the beginning, both were winning their serves convincingly. In the fourth game, Dimitrov pressed his opponent and reached two break points, and after an opponent’s error, he took a 3:1 lead. The Bulgarian had no problems on his serve and won the first set.
Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the semi-finals of the ATP 250 series tournament in Marseille. The No. 2 seed in the scheme won 6:3, 7:6 (3) against the home team’s representative, Artur Rinderknes.
In the semi-final on Saturday at 19:00, Dimitrov will meet Karen Khachanov (Russia), against whom he has three wins in three matches so far. Hubert Hurkach and Hugo Umber will play in the other semi-final.
At 2:2 in the second, Dimitrov had two chances to break through, but failed to take advantage after making mistakes. In the following minutes, both of them had no particular problems on their serve. It went to a tiebreak in which Dimitrov took a 3-0 lead, but Rinderknesch closed the gap by winning the next two points. Dimitrov made a streak of three consecutive points and reached four match points, converting the second and winning the match.
The Bulgarian finished with 10 aces against 13 for his opponent. Dimitrov hit 65% of his first serves, winning an impressive 95% on successful first forehands. For the entire match, he did not allow a single break point.
