Naval traffic is intense: there are cheap liners and more expensive cruises.

The lodge is affordable – incredibly affordable for someone from Estonia! If you book a holiday in the same place for a week, the price drops even more.

Prices in restaurants and bars are lower than in Estonia.

As for food, try the fresh fish, fish pies and rabbit stew.

The local wines are polite, although we had been warned: they are difficult to drink. Maltese limoncello, on the other hand, rivals Italian limoncello.

The locals are friendly but cautious.

Average level of English: it may happen that you are not understood.

We soon discover that it is extremely convenient to get around the island using the local bus service. With one and a half euros you can go wherever you want and the Tallinja app works like clockwork. There are many wonderful beaches here.

Called the Maltese Riviera, Bajja tal-Mixquqa (Golden Bay) is a golden bay hidden between the rocks, where there are unusually many people and you pay twenty euros for a deck chair. The place is beautiful and the water is clear and iridescent. But the best places are usually within walking distance of the busiest places, so even here whoever takes the trouble to climb the cliff via a small path, reaches Tuffieha beach, which is a real paradise. Singita beach restaurant is on the shore of dreamy beauty but with surprisingly affordable prices and the views take your breath away.
