The winter solstice arrives on Friday 22 December, or the beginning of astronomical winter. On the occasion of this event, the Lasnamäe district is organizing, in collaboration with Lasnamäe Sauna, a free sauna day on December 19th.
“Last year we organized a sauna day for the first time and it was a complete success. The feedback from people was so positive that we decided to organize a sauna day again this year. The sauna day promises to be very exciting. There free gingerbread cookies will be distributed, Christmas music will be played and the entire Lasnamäe sauna and its entrance will be transformed into a winter wonderland. It is worth registering early, because places fill up quickly “, says Lasnamäe district deputy Julianna Jurchenko.
On Tuesday 19 December from 11am to 8.30pm we will celebrate the beginning of winter in the Lasnamäe Sauna (Pae 19-2). The event is free for all participants, but pre-registration is required as the number of places is limited. Registration for the sauna day can be done either electronically (the registration links are below) or by telephone on 645 7702.
Visiting hours are limited on the day of the event. A visit lasts two hours and there are a total of four shifts (11-13, 13.30-15.30, 16-18, 18.30-20.30), among which it is possible to choose the suitable time in the preliminary phase. – registration.
The purpose of the event is to present sauna traditions and different saunas and hot tubs. On the day of the event you will have free access to both the Lasnamäe Sauna and the various hot tubs in the car park in front of the building. Furthermore, two Finnish saunas are open in the car park. To use the saunas and hot tubs, you must bring your swimsuit and a change of shoes to move between the sauna and the outdoor hot tubs.
Since the hot tubs are outdoors, wearing a hat is recommended.
Lasnamäe Sauna is a city sauna under the administration of the Lasnamäe district government, which includes separate saunas for men and women and an hourly shower. In both the men’s and women’s saunas there are two saunas: a large, pleasant steam sauna and a steam sauna that treats the respiratory tract. After a nice steam bath you can go to the outdoor terrace equipped with comfortable benches, which can be accessed directly from the bathroom, a truly perfect place to relax your body and breathe fresh air. The bathroom is equipped with showers, benches and water taps. For hardened people there is an extreme shower. Each sauna user can keep his clothes in his wardrobe. It is also possible to take advantage of the massage service performed by a qualified masseuse.
