Paulette is survived by two daughters, Christine McCarthy (Aaron Timmerman) and Marnee McCarthy; daughter-in-law, Vickie McCarthy; three grandchildren, Nile and Megan Timmerman and Andrew McCarthy; sister, Diane (Dan) Crone; and niece, Ashley (Wesley) Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Patrick; and brother, David.
Paulette was born April 18, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to Maurice and Bonnie (Bengston) King. She graduated from Valley High School in 1962 and then received her Bachelors in Education from Drake University. Paulette loved teaching children and worked for the West Des Moines United Methodist Early Learning Preschool for over 30 years. She married William McCarthy on December 21, 1966. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Paulette volunteered at various food pantries and was an avid reader that loved the West Des Moines Library.

Paulette Louise McCarthy, 79, passed away February 18, 2024. A private graveside service will take place at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
