In Pärnu food waste can be disposed of less often

The obligation to separate organic waste collection applies to all built properties. Food waste should be delivered to the waste dispatcher at your home or composted in your garden. In condominiums, collection is only permitted in a separate container, which the waste container empties according to the timetable. In private homes, food waste can be composted in a closed composter in the garden or collected in a separate container and handed over to the waste hauler. If food waste is composted on the property, you must notify the council. In private homes in sparsely populated areas, the only option is to compost organic waste within the boundaries of your property. It is not necessary to report composting to the Municipality.

If previously the food waste container had to be emptied once a week throughout the year, according to Pärnu’s detailed waste management regulations, this can be done once every four weeks during the cold period, i.e. from October to the end March. In the hot season, i.e. from April to September, the container must be emptied once a week. If the property has a deep collection bin, the frequency with which biodegradable kitchen and canteen waste is collected can be once every four weeks throughout the year.

A common container can be used to collect waste generated on adjacent properties. To use it you need to submit an application to the Pärnu city government.

Also in the future, condominiums, institutions and private companies will be able to dispose of paper and cardboard less often as part of organized waste transport, at least once every 12 weeks instead of the previous four.
