In the sprint stage of the Tour de Ski the Estonians failed to get through the preliminary round

The first three races of this year’s tour took place in Dobbiaco, Italy, after a day of rest, the athletes competed in the 1.5 kilometer freestyle sprint in Davos, Switzerland. In the men’s qualifications, the best performance went to Frenchman Lucas Chavana, who recorded a time of 2:14.9.

The Estonians were quite far from the quarterfinals, i.e. among the top 30, because Martin Himma was 45th (+10.22) and Alvar Johannes Alev 55th (+12.65). Himma would have had to be more than two seconds faster to advance. Estonian Kaarel Kasper Kõrge, who had started the third lap, crashed on the third stage and abandoned the race.

Estonian women do not participate in ski mountaineering. In the women’s competition, the Swedes who achieved three victories showed their power in the qualifiers, the fastest of which was Jonna Sundling.
