Latvia sent thousands of tons of confiscated Russian fertilizers to Nigeria

This is the third consecutive delivery of fertilizers, as part of which almost 200,000 tons of mineral fertilizers from Russia, stored in Latvia, belonging to companies subject to European Union sanctions will be sent.

Two shipments of fertilizer have already been sent to Kenya and Zimbabwe as part of the World Food Programme’s initiative, LSM reports.

The World Food Program wants to start planning the next shipment of fertilizers in the near future to support the countries that need these products most.

Last year the Latvian government decided to give the green light to the UN request to help alleviate the food crisis caused by Russia’s war in Africa and Latin America.

With this it was decided to hand over the fertilizers stored in Latvia by companies under EU sanctions to the UN World Food Programme.
