Lavrov does not believe that Trump’s new presidency will affect Russian-American relations

“I don’t think there will be any difference, because the direction of breaking Russian-American relations, the foundations of these relations, including strategic security, equality, mutual trust, inspections, transparency, trust-building agreements , all this started to be broken already by President George Bush Jr.,” Lavrov said in an interview with CBS, Interfax reports.

According to Lavrov, it was George W. Bush who told Putin that the United States would withdraw from the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Treaty.

Lavrov complained that the United States’ “superiority and impunity complex” is worsening.

“Those who ignored the enormous number of goodwill gestures made by Putin during his first two terms in office, those who miscalculated everything, need to think again. “Instead we see the current generation of US politicians who have learned nothing from unacceptable policy of the United States that they began to pursue after the collapse of the Soviet Union,” Lavrov said.
