life in Kiev is completely normal

Fico’s speech followed a journalist’s question about why his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Denõss Shmyhal tomorrow will take place in the border city of Uzhhorod instead of Kiev. The journalist who asked the question added that the prime minister will see with his own eyes the consequences of the war in Kiev.

Fico insisted that the decision to avoid visiting Kiev during the visit had nothing to do with security concerns caused by the Russian invasion.

“Why should I go to Kiev when I can meet the Ukrainian Prime Minister in Uzhhorod? I don’t see the difference,” Fico replied.

“Do you really think there is a war going on in Kiev? You can’t be serious. Then go there and you will find that in this city there is a normal life, a completely normal life,” he said.

Early this morning, Ukrainian cities were again hit by airstrikes organized by Russia, in which at least eight people died.

The morning air attack also reached Kiev, where, according to mayor Vitaly Klytško, 20 people were injured.
