A large-scale fire broke out in the liquefied gas terminal of the sea cargo port in Russia’s Leningrad region last weekend; residents of the Ust-Luga settlement claimed to have heard explosions beforehand. The extinguishing of the fire lasted until Monday, the Kremlin blaming Ukraine for Monday’s port attack.
Serial production of the S-300 missile complex began in 1975 and was put into service in the USSR in 1978. The advanced version of the S-300 system is the S-400. Furthermore, Russia now uses S-300 missiles to attack Ukrainian cities as well.
Russia has also supplied S-300 air defense systems to Syria. Israeli media previously reported that the S-300 poses no threat to the new F-35 stealth fighters and is capable of neutralizing these air defense systems if necessary.
