The discovery of the two bodies in Erdberg awakens memories of a murder case from 2022.
At that time, a 32-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were strangled to death in their apartment in Vienna-Mariahilf. The partner was identified as the perpetrator. The native Tunisian (then 49) fled to France after the crime, but was arrested. He murdered his 14-year-old stepdaughter because she suddenly came into the bedroom and started screaming. The perpetrator wanted to “quiet” her, as it was said in the court case.
According to a study commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior last year, in six out of ten cases of femicide, the perpetrator and victim had a family relationship. 44 percent of cases involve relationships with a household.
