Netanyahu: Israel destroyed two-thirds of Hamas units | foreign country

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israel Defense Forces have already destroyed two-thirds of the Hamas military wing units operating in Gaza. Furthermore, the Israeli Prime Minister promised to continue the war against Hamas until complete victory.

“There are two phases of the struggle, the first is the destruction of the Hamas regiments, these are the organized fighting units of Hamas,” Netanyahu said at a news conference in Tel Aviv.

“So far 16 to 17 have been destroyed [rügementi] on 24. After that it is [etapp]while we clean the area [Hamasi võitlejatest]. The first activity is usually shorter, the second takes longer,” explained the Prime Minister.

Netanyahu added that Israeli soldiers did not die in vain and vowed to fight until Hamas is defeated and Israeli and foreign hostages in Gaza are freed.

“It will still take many months to win, but we are convinced that we will do it,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli ground operation in Gaza lasted more than three months and the reason for its launch is the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, in which 1,200 people were killed, the vast majority of them civilians.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, the Israeli ground operation has killed more than 24,000 Gazans. Hamas’ claims cannot be independently verified.

International pressure is growing on Israel to declare a ceasefire. Although Israel’s main ally, the United States, does not support calls for a ceasefire, US officials have repeatedly called on Israel to make efforts to avoid civilian casualties among Gazans.
