SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, a man on a bicycle lost his life when a police chase culminated in a violent, rollover crash in South Los Angeles.

According to officials, officers from LAPD’s Newton Division received a call around 6 a.m. reporting a theft. The victim, who was apparently trailing the suspect, was unable to reveal the exact location of the incident.

Authorities attempted to pull over the suspect near the intersection of 48th Street and Central Avenue, but he refused to stop, triggering a high-speed chase that wound its way through several streets in the vicinity.

During the pursuit, the suspect collided with the bicyclist near Hopper Avenue and 46th Street before continuing to drive recklessly, ultimately crashing into eight other vehicles. Miraculously, there were no injuries reported among the occupants of the eight vehicles struck by the suspect.
