The US resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza was presented to the Security Council

US Secretary of State Antony Blanken has said that the US has submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council, calling for an ‘immediate ceasefire linked to the release of prisoners’ in Gaza.

According to the AFP news agency, US Secretary of State Anthony Blanken said: ‘We have just submitted a resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire related to the release of the prisoners and we have full support. Hope the countries will support it.’

During a visit to Saudi Arabia to discuss the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the US secretary of state told the Saudi media outlet Hadath on Wednesday evening: ‘I think it will send a strong message, a strong signal.’

The United States, Israel’s biggest backer, had previously used its veto to prevent the UN Security Council from calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian territories.

Antony Blanken said: ‘Of course we stand by Israel and its right to defend itself, but at the same time it is important that we focus on, prioritize, protect, provide humanitarian aid to these citizens. Those who have been damaged and who are in dire straits.’

The American governor who killed his dog sparks controversy

New York.- Since late last month, Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota has been under fierce bipartisan attack for her decision to kill her family dog, a 14-month-old German Wirehaired Pointer named Cricket. Noem has repeatedly defended her actions, which she will detail in her upcoming memoir, in which she claims the dog was “aggressive,” “untameable” and “dangerous to anyone he came in contact with.”

He suggested Sunday that President Joe Biden should consider killing his own dog, Commander, a German shepherd who was kicked out of the White House last year after repeatedly biting Secret Service agents.

“Joe Biden’s dog attacked 24 Secret Service people,” Noem, a Republican, said in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“So how many people are enough to be attacked and dangerously injured before making a decision about a dog?”

Experts said there are some circumstances in which dogs are so aggressive that they should be euthanized. However, they noted that euthanasia should be an option of last resort, used only when a dog poses a grave danger, and other possible solutions have been ruled out. In the cases of Cricket and Commander, many reasonable, non-lethal alternatives were available.

“We have a lot of tools at our disposal — medications, even a lot of different behavioral interventions — before we get to the point where you’re, like, I can’t handle this dog,” said Erica Feuerbacher, a dog behavior and learning expert in Virginia Tech.
