Odermatt won fifth consecutive giant slalom | Alpine skiing

The Swiss Marco Odermatt won again in the giant slalom in the MK stage of men’s alpine skiing held in Alta Badia.

It was the fifth consecutive victory in the giant slalom for the reigning Olympic champion and world champion in the category, and also the third victory in Alta Badia. Odermatt has won 16 of his 26 MK stage victories in giant slalom.

Odermatt beat Croatian Filip Zubcic by 0.19 seconds and Slovenian Zan Kranjec by 2.26 seconds.

The giant slalom will also be held in Alta Badia on Monday.

In the Women’s World Championship stage held in Val d’Isere, France, the Swiss women achieved a double win in downhill on Saturday, while Jasmine Flury took her first career stage win, beating teammate Joana Hählen of 0.22 seconds and third place Cornelia Hütter of Austria by 0.24 seconds.

Sunday’s giant slalom was won by Italian Federica Brignone, for whom it was the third stage victory of the season. Brignone beat Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie by 0.44 seconds and teammate Sofia Goggia by 0.59 seconds.
