Official: Sancho, who fell out with Ten Hag, arrived to save Dortmund’s season – Soccernet.ee

Jadon Sancho, who moved from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United for 85 million euros two and a half years ago, has returned to Dortmund on a loan deal.

In the first two seasons in the Premier League, the Englishman made 55 appearances and scored 9 goals, but at the beginning of the current season Sancho fell out with coach Erik ten Hag.

The last time the 23-year-old attacking midfielder took to the pitch was at the end of August. After Ten Hag left him out of the squad against Arsenal in London and based his decision on what he saw in training, Sancho reacted painfully on social media:

“Please don’t believe everything you read! I don’t allow people to say completely untrue things, I performed very well in training this week. I believe there are other reasons for this, I have been the scapegoat for a long time and it’s not right!”

Since the player refused to apologize to the manager after his speech, he never managed to get back into United’s squad. At the start of September Sancho rejected the chance to move to Saudi Arabia, and by the end of the year he was increasingly linked with Dortmund, where he spent four seasons before joining United.

Now the German club has announced the signing of a loan contract with United valid until the end of the season. “When I entered the dressing room I felt like I had come home. I can’t wait to meet my teammates again, play football with a smile on my face and help the club reach the Champions League,” commented Sancho.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the loan contract does not include a buy-back option and the six-month contract will cost Dortmund a total of €4 million.

Dortmund need fresh momentum, as last year ended with a win drought that left them in fifth place in the Bundesliga, already 15 points behind the league leaders and 6 points from the Champions League. The winter break ends this weekend with a trip to the red light city of Darmstadt.
