Official: Vassiljev and Brõlin await Orban’s charlatan empire in a club that cultivates youth – Soccernet.ee

Vladimir Vasiljev, who already announced his move to work abroad a few weeks ago, and his former assistant Nikita Brõlin have officially signed a work contract with ŠTK Šamorin, which plays in the Slovak Premier League.

The 35-year-old Vassiljev is presented on the club’s website as a coach who spent his entire career in Estonia, who managed to win the Estonian championship, cup and super cup together with Marko Savic as co-coach of Levadia. Furthermore, Vassiljev worked as assistant coach of the Estonia national team in 2020. In the season that ended, Nõmme United won the Premier League under the leadership of Vassiljev and Brõlin and advanced to the Premium League for the first time in the club’s history .

“The hiring of the new coach was preceded by a long period during which we followed his work in Estonia. He is a representative of the younger school, which prefers attractive football and places emphasis on youth, but at the same time he wants to win, as his results so far show,” Šamorini president Csaba told the club website Horvath. “We have been in contact for weeks and believe that our choice will help our club to be successful.”

Vassiljev confirmed to the site that the first experiences are very positive. “Already after the first conversations with representatives of the club and DAC, I understood that this is a great opportunity to develop a career. There is an excellent infrastructure here, a good team both in terms of players and core strengths , and I believe that if we work hard we can also do great things,” Vassilyev said.

In addition to him and Brõlin, the technical team includes local goalkeeping coach Juraj Balaž and physical training coach Bence Hazi. The supervisors will be able to get to know the departments until December 8, then the Slovaks will begin the winter holidays and will meet again on January 8 to prepare for the second half of the season, which will begin in March. Having won their last two matches before the break, Šamorin are in 12th place in the 16-team competition after 17 rounds.

Ties with the South American champion and Orban

Vassiljev’s reference to DAC means that, as of 2019, Šamorin is the agricultural club Dunajska Streda DAC 1904 playing in the Slovak Premier League. Furthermore, there will be a collaboration with Brazil’s top club, Fluminense, who were recently crowned winners of this year’s Copa Libertadores.

DAC, who won silver in the Slovak Premier League last season, are coached by Xisco Munoz, who also previously held the position of head coach in England and Spain and was crowned national champions with Valencia as a player. This year they are currently in fifth place in the rankings. They have finished second in their home league in three of the last six seasons, which gave them permission to also participate in the Euroseries. However, it has not yet reached the group stage, for example, this year it lost first to Romanian top club FCSB in the third qualifying round of the European League, and then to Georgian Dila Gor in the Conference League.

Since Dunajska Streda is located in Slovakia very close to the Hungarian border (and Šamorin is only a few tens of kilometers from it), the club relies heavily on the local Hungarian diaspora. The DAC club is owned by Slovakian businessman Oszkar Vilag, who has strong ties to Viktor Orbán, who has invested a lot of money in football in Hungary and neighboring countries. The Slovak press also then thoroughly investigated their background in light of the club’s rise, but found nothing inappropriate.
