Ollie held back tears on ‘Hommik Anuga’: I wouldn’t want to go there now…

Ollie, whose civilian name is Oliver Mazurtšak, became very serious when Välba began investigating the background of the story. “I know he has a specific person,” the host tried to steer the conversation to the person who inspired the man to write the song “My Friend.” Ollie confirmed that a specific person is behind the creation of the story, but he tried to limit himself to this information.

“I’ll be honest, I don’t really want to go down there right now,” announced Ollie, who took a short pause to think before Välba’s next question, and it looked like the singer was holding back tears. A moment later he explained that he didn’t want to talk about this friend, because he would be unfair to that person’s family, and he didn’t want to bring them to the attention of the media.

He confirmed that the person the song is about is no longer with us. Välba investigated whether writing a song about such pain brings back that feeling when you perform it, or whether it is more of a therapeutic activity. “I felt all these feelings writing this song, so now that I’m singing it I don’t think about it. I’m concentrating on singing, let’s say,” Ollie explained.

The singer, who came second in the Estonian Song this spring, said his main goal this time is to perform his song well, and that the next step is in the hands of the viewers.
