On the second day of Christmas, ETV will broadcast a portrait show about Lembit Peterson | Theater

On the second day of Christmas, ETV offers viewers a longer show about Lembit Peterson, one of the most influential creators on the Estonian theater scene: actor, director, teacher and initiator. One of Peterson’s biggest ventures, which celebrated its 70th birthday this year, is Theatrum, which will turn 30 next year. Between these big birthdays, Owe Petersell talks to Lembit Peterson about life, theater and vocation of life.

“I think for many people, like for me, Lembit Peterson was a man of many generations who seems to know some answers. His film and stage roles are iconic and make you think about timeless themes. For me, an interview with Lembit Peterson was a long-time dream and I am very happy that it has now become a reality,” said Owe Petersell.

The show is about being a husband and father, influences and growing up, the world of cinema and theatre, expectations, the teaching profession and students, the Theatrum, creative struggles and artificial intelligence. Lembit met the latter while preparing his new play with Andrew Lawrence-King, Indrek Koffi and Iris Oja.

“At the moment I cannot say when this show will be finished, the process is ongoing, but the show addresses the problems of artificial intelligence and does so in the key of Spanish baroque opera. In this regard, I have “Let’s think more about artificial intelligence and it is a serious challenge. In short, it’s like Kratt: we’ve created something that should serve us, but there’s a danger that Kratt will dominate us instead. In my opinion, everything that a person creates separately from the Creator becomes dangerous for him, but perhaps it becomes dangerous precisely because it leads us back to the Creator”, reasoned Lembit Peterson.

In addition to Lembitu, three of his six children – Jonathan, Elisabeth and Laura Peterson – will also be able to speak on the show.

The program “Lembit Peterson. The Invitation to Life” will air on ETV on December 26 at 9:20 pm.
