Pärtel-Peeter Pere was elected president of the Tallinn region of the Reform Party

“I thank my party colleagues for this opportunity. The strength of the Reform Party is our people, our will and ability to achieve results. With this team we can offer a better alternative to the current central party-based city government,” Pere said.

In his opinion, Kõlvart’s micromanagement leadership and outdated understanding of what a city is have been holding back the capital’s development for many years.

“As an urban strategist, I have worked with the most innovative cities in the world such as Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen, Utrecht, Stockholm, Berlin and many others. Tallinn could also be transformed into a much more modern capital. But it all starts with leadership,” Pere said.

The family takes over the leadership of the Reform Party’s Tallinn region from Kristen Michal.

Leaders of regional organizations operating in eight districts of Tallinn were also elected.

Sirlis Sõmer-Kull, a member of the Social and Health Care Committee of the Tallinn City Council, has been elected head of the Reform Party’s Haaberst region. Enn Listra, a long-time dean of the Faculty of Economics at Tallinn University of Technology, will start working as head of the city center region. Kristo Enn Vaga, member of the Kristiine district council, member of the Riigikogu national defense committee and president of the Kristiine district council, will continue to be president of the Kristiine region. Viljar Jaamu, economist, member of the Tallinn city council and former head of the Business Development Foundation, has been elected president of the Lasnamäe region.

Maris Lauri, vice-president of the Riigikogu’s special committee for state budget control, continues to lead the Mustamäe region. Ènne Pillak, chair of the Riigikogu’s social committee, was elected head of the Nõmme region, while Andres Sutt, member of the Riigikogu’s economic committee and former minister of entrepreneurship, will continue to chair the Pirita. Members of the Northern Tallinn region have elected Hanah Lahe, a member of the Riigikogu environmental committee, as their new leader.

With councils elected for two-year terms, Tallinn’s Reform Party will face local elections in 2025.
