Estonian National Radio has recognized Pärt Uusberg for his contribution to Estonian musical culture and his collaboration over the years. Pärt Uusberg’s compositions include choral pieces, major forms, film music and instrumental pieces. He has an exceptional connection with song festival traditions: Pärt Uusberg’s work has been performed at song festivals since 2011, he made his debut as a conductor in 2019, and in 2023 Uusberg was artistic director of the XIII Youth Song Festival “Pyha on maa.”
The title of Musician of the Year 2023 was presented to Pärt Uusberg during tonight’s concert, where the leader of the chamber choir Ööd, Vend and Johan Randvere performed together with the winner. Choral songs and piano stories by Pärt Uusberg were performed during the concert, creating a significant trajectory of the composer’s twenty creative years.
The Musician of the Year concert will be broadcast live on Klassikararadio, Vikerraadio and on video from the ERR portal. Radio 4 will bring the concert to listeners on January 16. The sound director of the live broadcast is Ats Treimaa, the editor is Marge-Ly Rookäär.
