Villemdrillem received the Rádio 2 Yearly Hit award with the song “Leekiv lováš”. Second place went to 5minus, Nublu and Nexus with the single “Kõrvetab” and third place to Nublu’s “Ära ärata”.
“The applause and everything is beautiful, but first I would like to dedicate this award to Lea, without whom this song would not have been born, and thank Ivar Põllut, the author of the song. Many people would really like to say thank you. This award is fantastic, I’m sitting and I’m telling you, but I really didn’t earn it myself,” Villemdrillem said in his victory speech.
“I have understood through a medium-long career that it is useless to set expectations too high, so that if something goes off, you don’t expect to win the Year Award,” Villemdrillem said. “Maybe we all had different feelings about this story. At least I was very happy with my product for a long time, to be able to go ahead and release it,” she added.
It was announced as the best foreign song Casing The success of Eurovision “Cha cha cha”. On behalf of Käärijä, the Estonian manager of Käärijä’s record label, Warner Music, accepted the award Anu Varusk. The ensemble was chosen for the Radio 2 debut Silky steps with the song “Treasure”. He received the title Newcomer of the Year Ollie. Radio 2’s editor’s favorite award went to a singer and songwriter Light. Awarded the Radio 2 Most Played Song Award Lisa Jennyfer with the song “Break free”, on behalf of which the artist’s sister accepted the award Sissi.
The winner of Aastahitt 2023 was determined following a popular vote: 137,507 people voted this year.
Marta Püssa and Bert Järvet hosted the live show and awards gala on December 28 from the Gloria boutique club.
The Radio 2 marathon, which started at 1pm, broadcast the best of national and foreign songs that were not in the top ten. The show was hosted by Kristo Rajasaare and Koit Raudsepp.
