Reigning champions City’s collapse continued with a defeat against Villa Calcio

In the English Premier League, reigning champions Manchester City lost 0:1 away to Aston Villa, ending their fourth consecutive league match without a win.

The only goal of the match was scored by Leon Bailey in the 74th minute. At the same time, Aston Villa attacked more actively during the match, making as many as 22 shots, seven of which were on target. City only had two shots on target in the entire match. Never before had a club managed by Pep Guardiola conceded so few shots in a match.

However, city rival Manchester United beat Chelsea 2:1 in front of their home crowd. In the 9th minute Bruno Fernandes missed the penalty, but in the 19th minute Scott McTominay still gave the home team the lead. The half-time score ended at 1:1, when Cole Palmer opened the scoring for the visitors in the last minute.

In the 69th minute, McTominay scored his second goal to give United three points.

United have collected 27 points from 15 games, currently being sixth, Tottenham Hotspur, who have played one game less, are fifth with the same points.

Liverpool beat Sheffield United 2-0 away thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai and remain second in the table, two points behind leaders Arsenal.
