Volker Grohskopf had broadcast the Villach carnival session for the ORF from the congress center for years and was recently working on the preparations for next year’s anniversary event “70 years of Villach carnival”.

A serious blow for the Villach Carnival Guild: Volker Grohskopf, the well-known ORF director and director of the Villach Carnival Guild, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in Vienna at the age of 58.

Today, Tuesday, February 20th, Grohskopf died at 12:05 p.m. in the Vienna General Hospital. The farewell takes place in Vienna among friends. The German-born man will be buried in the family grave in Bamberg, Bavaria. Our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

“We are all deeply shocked, I couldn’t believe the news at first. The Villach carnival was his child, after many years as our director he was almost like a family member of the guild,” said the “pharmacist” Alexander Telesko. Volker Grohskopf took part in numerous ORF productions and was one of the ORF’s busiest directors.
