The German Bundesliga returned from a winter break of more than three weeks with defending champions Bayern Munich beating Hoffenheim 3-0 at home.
Bayern took the lead in the 18th minute when Jamal Musiala hit the post from a tight angle after Leroy Sane’s pass. Bayern entered the 15-minute interval with a slim lead.
Midway through the second half Bayern had good chances for the first time, when Musiala’s long-range shot hit the post and Thomas MΓΌller was unable to hit the rebound well. Hoffenheim then faced a lot of pressure on Bayern’s goal, but 37-year-old goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, playing his 500th match for the club’s representative team, made two miraculous saves and once the ball hit the crossbar. The score was 1-0 in favor of Bayern.

Bayern relieved themselves of major tension in the 70th minute when Musiala played cleverly alongside Sane to give the defending champions a two-goal lead. Hoffenheim’s hopes suffered a blow four minutes later when Grischa Promel trampled on Mathys Tel in midfield and received a second yellow card.
The visitors no longer posed a threat to Bayern’s goal, but the hosts instead made it 3-0 in the 90th minute, when none other than Harry Kane scored his 22nd goal of the season from a pass from Leon Goretzka. repeating Robert Lewandowski’s record for the first half of the season.

Bayern remain second in the table, losing by one point to Bayer Leverkusen, who have played the same number of games. For the first time this season, Hoffenheim, who have struggled to score away from home, are seventh in the table.
