The Rosneft oil refinery is burning in the Krasnodar Territory

On Thursday night, a large fire broke out at an oil refinery in the city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, which belongs to the Russian company Rosneft.

According to Russian local authorities, according to preliminary data, there are no victims and rescuers are working to put out the fire.

According to videos and photos circulating on social media, Ukrainian drones were operating in the area and may have hit the refinery. Drones were spotted both before and after the fire started.

Handelsblatt: The United Kingdom has offered Germany a solution for the supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine

So far the German government has not wanted to supply Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. The German newspaper Handelsblatt reported on Wednesday evening that London offers Berlin a smart solution to help Ukraine.

According to the officials, who wished to remain anonymous, British authorities offered the German government a plan in which Germany would supply the United Kingdom with Taurus missiles, and the United Kingdom in turn would supply Ukraine with more Storm Shadow missiles from its stocks.

London is said to have made such a proposal to Berlin several weeks ago, but so far no decision has been made.

A spokesman for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz declined to comment on Handelsblatt’s request.

Zelensky: Ukraine calls for international investigation into shooting down of Russian plane

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday evening that all circumstances surrounding the crash of the Il-76 plane in Russia’s Belgorod region must be clarified. At the same time, Zelenskiy calls for a national investigation to uncover the facts.

“It is necessary to find out the concrete facts. To the extent that it is possible, taking into account that the plane crashed on the territory of Russia, that is, outside our control,” Zelensky said.

The President stressed that it is now of the utmost importance to know the facts and that the Ukrainian authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

“I ordered the Foreign Minister of Ukraine to inform our partners about the data available to Ukraine. Our country demands an international investigation,” Zelensky added.

The President of Ukraine emphasized that Russia plays with the lives of Ukrainian prisoners of war and their relatives, as well as with the feelings of Ukrainian society. Russia says Ukrainian prisoners of war were on board the downed plane. According to Ukrainian authorities, the plane was carrying S-300 missiles.

White House: We are waiting for more information on the Il-76 crash

John Kirby, a representative of the US National Security Council, said at a press conference on Wednesday evening that the US has no information on who may have been on board the Russian Il-76 plane.

According to Kirby, the United States is doing everything it can to learn the circumstances of the case and get more information about what happened. US authorities have seen the reports but cannot confirm them, Kirby added.

“We have seen reports, we are trying to get information, but it would be premature for me to assume anything. We don’t know how true these reports are. Ukraine says one thing, Russia says another, we don’t have enough information” , Kirby explained.
