Rovanperä starts the season in front of the home crowd | Car rally

Kalle Rovanperä, who became world champion in the World Rally Championship for two consecutive years, will start the season at the Arctic Rally in early February.

It is known that the 23-year-old Finn will only participate in selected rallies in the World Series this season. Rovanperä will open the World Cup season in midsummer in Sweden, but will prepare on the roads of his homeland.

In addition to Rovanperä, his teammate Elfyn Evans and Toyota boss Jari-Matti Latvala will start from Northern Finland. “Together, we found that the Arctic Rally fits perfectly into all of our calendars,” Latvala said via Iltalehti.

Among the Estonian rally aces, Georg Linnamäe is the only one competing to sit behind the wheel of a Toyota Rally2 for the first time.

The 59th Arctic Rally will be held from 1st to 3rd until February. A total of 12 speed trials will be completed with a total length of 204 kilometers. Last year, local rider Teemu Asunmaa won by 1.5 seconds over Juha Salo. Asunmaa is also included in the list of starters this year.
