1st ODI: Australia’s easy win against West Indies
Australia defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the first one-day international in Melbourne on Friday. Australian captain Steve Smith and Cameron Green scored 149 runs while batting brilliantly.
Smith scored 79 runs (not out) from 79 balls, while third batsman Cameron scored 77 runs from 104 balls, also not out.
Australia thus easily chased down the target of 232 runs with 11.3 overs remaining. Opener Josh Ingles played a brilliant innings of 65 runs off 43 balls which included 10 fours and a six.
It was Australia’s 10th ODI win in a row, including last year’s victory over India in the World Cup.

Michal Martikán has won a place in the C1 national team after four years
Two-time Olympic water slalom champion Michal Martikán has secured a place in the Slovak national C1 team. This was decided during the third nomination competition on Saturday in Liptovský Mikuláš, after which three teams were completed. Olympian Matej Beňuš will be joined by Marko Mirgorodský and, after four years, by Martikán.
The 44-year-old five-time Olympic medalist (2-2-1), who turns 45 in May, is in second place, four points behind Mirgorodsky and ten ahead of Štaffen. At the end of the nomination, the three best results will be counted in the overall ranking and no one will be able to surpass Martikán.
“My main goal is to drive as best I can to be satisfied. I don’t think I drive any differently than I did a few years ago. It’s just that now there are regular tracks that are not only built on the right side.
