Survey: Young people in the US and Europe love WEF Davos | foreign country

Young people in the United States and several European countries believe the World Economic Forum (WEF), held every January in the Swiss resort town of Davos, will bring about positive changes, according to a new survey.

Although the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Alps has often been criticized as an elitist event for the super-rich, majorities of respondents in the US, UK, France, Germany and Switzerland believe the Davos event is good for the world.

The survey was conducted by the research company YouGov on behalf of Salesforce, writes Politico. In the five countries mentioned above, a total of 6,000 people were interviewed, of which 54% said they were optimistic that the politicians and business leaders gathered for the summit can make the world a better place.

The most positive attitude towards the Davos summits is among the youngest respondents, that is, representatives of generation Z, of whom as many as 60% believe that the participants of the economic forum use their influence to improve the world.

Climate change and sustainable development are the most important areas for respondents where they would like to see progress in Davos.

Although 83 of those surveyed had heard of the summit, nearly 75% of respondents said that closed-door discussions at the event were not transparent enough.

This year’s WEF will take place in Davos next week, January 15-19.
