sustainability is an option, but not everyone can meet the requirements

In the “Industry news on air” program we propose you to listen to the debate that took place last year at the “Industrial business plan 2024” conference, focused on sustainability in the industrial sector. Jaano Haidla, board member of Graanul Invest, Jaan Härms, board member of Saku Brewery, and Priit Haldma, CEO of process equipment manufacturer Estanc, shared their thoughts and experiences.

Priit Haldma said that not every company can survive every turn in the market, and this is inevitable. Haldma sees an opportunity in the green turn and Estanc also started from this. “If companies don’t follow this trend and the market changes, it will probably be very tough soon,” she said, referring to the risk that ignoring sustainability could lead to hefty dividends.

According to Jaan Härms, for example, companies that are late or have postponed investments in the energy sector may find themselves in difficulty because, due to the environment, consumer or customer expectations, they have to start doing so in an accelerated manner. “And this in an environment where money has a high price,” Härms noted.

Jaano Haidla said during the discussion that the number one task is to decipher the green turn. “An Estonian has to approach the issue with the mind of a farmer. Everything that comes may not always be 100% good, and we have to choose the good part that fits our environment, our living conditions and our economy” , he has declared.

The show is sponsored by Radius Machining and Hansavest.
