A Saturn moon hides a vast ocean beneath its surface

After a ten-year suspense following the discovery of an anomaly in its rotation, proof has finally been made that Mimas, the smallest of Saturn’s eight main moons, harbors an ocean of water beneath its entire surface. Even more astonishing, this ocean would be less than 25 million years old, almost nothing, compared to the 4.5 billion years of our solar system. This surprising discovery is the result of a long work, but also of an intuition going against the main ideas accepted until now on the evolution of the Saturn system.

It was in 2010 that our team began to question the real nature of Mimas. With a radius of 200 km, the smallest of Saturn’s so-called main moons is easily recognizable by its surface covered in craters. Discovered in 1789 by the British astronomer William Herschel, it would be necessary to wait for the space age to obtain the first resolved images of this moon, and thus be able to discover its inert surface.

Study Mimas to understand the shape of Saturn’s rings

The link between Mimas and our initial work was not immediate, since it involved explaining the most remarkable structure of Saturn’s rings: the Cassini division. Discovered by Jean-Dominique Cassini in 1675, then a very young director of the Paris observatory, he had observed a dark zone in the rings of the giant, which now bears his name. With a span of approximately 4,500 km, it literally cuts the rings into two very distinct parts.

The Cassini division is not completely empty: in this image from the Cassini mission, we can see less dense matter in the form of a series of darker rings. In the background, Mimas.

As surprising as it may seem, the scientific community did not know how to explain the existence of this division i

Common mistakes when creating a website and how to avoid them – DutchCowboys

In the digital age, building an effective website can be a challenge. This article highlights common mistakes during website development and provides solutions to avoid them. From security measures to choosing the right domain name, find out how to optimize your web presence.

Create a secure base

The importance of website security cannot be overstated. With the increase in cybercrime, especially AI-driven attacks as described in the Report 2024a resilient security infrastructure is critical.

Implementation of advanced security systems

A comprehensive security strategy includes regular software updates and the integration of robust backup solutions that prevent data loss. Encryption techniques protect the transmission of sensitive data, while multi-level authentication procedures further protect access to critical areas of the system. These steps are essential to protect both data and user resources.

Systematic security testing and log analysis should be performed regularly to identify potential security vulnerabilities at an early stage. Additionally, it is essential to train employees on security protocols, as many security breaches are caused by human error. The implementation of web application firewalls (WAFs) and regular penetration tests strengthen the defense against external attacks.

Creating an incident response team ensures a quick and effective response in the event of a security breach. Furthermore, data protection measures should be made transparent and reviewed regularly to strengthen user trust and meet legal requirements.

The right domain name helps with visibility

A concise domain name is crucial to a brand’s online identity. Before choo

NASA’s Juno probe arrived at Jupiter in 2016 and collected a lot of scientific information as it orbited Jupiter in an elliptical shape until 2021. However, because Juno was in good condition even after completing its objective, NASA extended its mission until 2025.

The primary purpose of the extended mission was to make close-up observations of three of Jupiter’s four main moons: Ganymede, Europa, and Io. Juno used the remaining fuel to orbit an elliptical orbit closer to Jupiter, approaching the moons within it one by one.

The Juno probe explored the innermost moon, Io, in December 2023 and February 2024. At that time, the Juno probe came within 1,500 km of Io’s surface and observed the surface in detail. And the sight of a huge lava lake and a unique volcano was transmitted to Earth. Io is the only moon in the solar system on which lava flows and up to 400 active volcanoes are still erupting. The reason Io, which is only slightly larger than Earth’s Moon, shows much more active volcanic activity than Earth is

Don’t scale AI! Scale your business with AI

AI… it’s those who do the least who talk about it the most. So let’s spend some time looking at how different types of AI can be deployed. Always a bit of why, but a lot more of how.

Amy Webb, the brilliant futurist and expert in the evolution of technologies reports that in Davos, in January 2024 “AI was an omnipresent subject. It came up in every meeting, at every dinner, and in almost every conversation I had. Whether we were talking about Artificial General Intelligence, ethical concerns and implications for work, everyone wanted to know what role AI would play. How long will it take to achieve Artificial General Intelligence? What to do about trust? What is the future of work? Emerging challenges in cybersecurity? Tons of questions about the future. However, I noticed a severe information asymmetry: leaders all want to talk about AI, but they are not up to date on what it is, what it is not, and why it matters in a practical sense.

Amy Webb’s remark illustrates a paradox that we observe in many companies: the professions and management are, on the one hand, fascinated by AI and on the other hand, little engaged in its implementation.

Today, the approach adopted by companies to launch and industrialize Data & AI use cases can be summarized in three points: (1) a bottom-up collection of needs from business lines to identify use cases ( 2) an aggregation of these needs in order to enable the supply of use cases and build a Data Platform capable of supporting them and finally (3) a contribution to Business Departments as part of the deployment of the roadmap according to priorities professions, data availability and technical possibilities – all three being highly scalable

If the advantages of this approach are clear: bringing together Data & AI initiatives with global coordination, projecting the company into a transformation process and capitalizing on rare technical skills, … its limits are also clear: a majority of cases of low potential use, a Data architecture subject to numerous often incompatible demands, long delivery times which underestimate the efforts around Data Governance, particularly around data quality, positioned on the critical path of projects, when If we add the cost of compliance and complexity to this list, we understand the frustration of stakeholders on this subject.

Our first challenge is to focus the adoption of AI by Business Departments with a view to business transformation because they are the only guarantors of value creation. In order to get off to a good start, a brief detour through the history of the electricity revolution should enlighten us…

The three families of AI
