The best Swedish skier mocked biathletes: they are safety workers | Ski

Swedish cross-country skier William Poromaa has started a war of words with biathlon skiers.

In Sweden, in recent years, situations in which cross-country skiers decide to switch from cross-country skiing to biathlon have become more frequent. Poromaa, who after three stages holds fourth place in this year’s Tour de Ski, is not happy about this.

“I’ve never liked biathlon. Ever since I was a child. I don’t understand why this sport is so popular. It bothers me a bit,” the young ski star revealed to the Swedish national broadcast “Kallprat”.

Poromaa left open the question of where exactly his aversion to biathlon comes from. According to him, biathletes can be compared to security personnel who did not become policemen.

“Of course we make fun of biathlon skiers,” Poromaa continued. “I would compare them to security guards who dreamed of becoming policemen but couldn’t do it. I think biathlon is artificial and in bad taste,” she added.

Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Quentin Fillon Maillet reacted to Poromaa’s statement, posting a photo on social media of Swedish biathletes Martin Ponsiluoma and Sebastian Samuelsson throwing Poromaa out of the room after the statement.

Poromaa, who had previously caused a sensation with his sharp statements, won his first title medal last winter, when at the World Ski Championships in Planica he took bronze in the 50 kilometer classic technique.
