The coach of the Estonian women’s volleyball team resigned Estonian volleyball team

Alessandro Orefice, who has coached the Estonian women’s volleyball team since spring 2022, has resigned.

The 39-year-old Italian takes over as head coach of the Slovenian women’s team. Like Estonia, Slovenia will also play in the European Gold League next season, writes Delfi Sport.

“I decided to join the Slovenian women’s national team because it is a serious and successful organization with clear goals and a mentality that matches mine very well,” said Orefice.

The president of the Estonian Volleyball Association, Hanno Pevkur, spoke to Orefic about his possible departure already last week. “The first half of the 2+2 contract that we signed was completed last year. We gave him until the end of this week to present his vision, after which we can make a decision,” Pevkur said then.

With Orefice, the women’s volleyball team won the silver league last year and was crowned Estonian team of the year.

Kertu Laak, diagonal striker of the Estonian women’s national team, thanked Orefice for the work she has done in recent years on social media. “Alessandro Orefice, who has been with us since 2020 and took over as head coach in 2022, will continue to coach the Slovenian women’s team. This means that we will also face each other in this year’s Gold League. We wish Alessandro success in his new challenges and we thank him for the work done which brought us the victory of the Silver League and the team of the year award! Thanks Coach!”.
