The 21-year-old Czech moved to the Tampere Classic this season. Denik told the Czech magazine that he went to a tavern with his teammates and was shocked.
“I don’t even know if you can call it beer. It’s absolutely horrible,” Hemerka said.
“Maybe it would be better if they came to me in the Czech Republic and I showed them what they are missing,” laughed the Czech, referring to the great beer traditions of his homeland.
The indoor hockey player added that, being Central European, the cold Finnish winter was a culture shock for him too.
“After New Year’s Eve the temperature dropped to at least -20. It was hell. When the sun shines, everyone is in a good mood, but when it’s dark and raining, it’s crazy. You can’t do without a hat and socks hot,” Hemerka said, speaking about her experiences.
