The Estonian U16 basketball team bought a sauna for the Finns, while the U18s got a sauna

On Thursday in Audentes several Estonian and Finnish youth teams faced each other. The young Estonian U16s, who had defeated Sweden the day before, achieved their second victory, as they beat their Finnish peers with a score of 88:58. The best player for the hosts was Roman Avdejev, a member of the soul letter of the Reinar Halliku Basketball School, who had 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and four blocks. Rae Kossu’s Kaspar Vuks and Pärnu KK’s Jesper Roman added 15 points each.

The Estonians were fed mainly by their defense, which forced the Finns to commit as many as 38 turnovers. “The match was already much better than yesterday. Once again, I am happy that all 12 players were able to play on the field and no one was eliminated,” said Brett Nõmm, coach of the U16 national team.

The U18s suffered essentially the same loss, losing to their northern neighbors 67:92. Kaur-Kennerth Tomann, a member of the Stella Azzurra academy, was the only one to reach double figures for the Estonian team, with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.

“We knew that the game would be more intense and difficult than yesterday. Defensively we gave the opponent too many easy baskets,” Martin Rausberg, the driver of this youth team, paid attention to the 31 turnovers. “We will try to make corrections and finish the tournament against Latvia on a positive note.”

The Estonian U16 girls were behind their Finnish peers 55:109 and the U18 girls 34:96.
